Full Circle in Frankenmuth
The commonality between us all, regardless of our favorite genre of books, whether we sprinkle extra seasoning on our fried chicken, or our individual opinions on matters of local government, is that we all chose Frankenmuth to be the setting for our story.

Seeds You Can Borrow, Stories You Can Grow!
In many ways, then, libraries resemble gardens. The library itself, Wickson in particular, is a bed of rich soil, the books and wide array of programs the seeds that have been planted, and the librarians and other community members the sunshine and water that help the seeds of knowledge and joy grow and flourish all year. How perfect, then, that Wickson is the place to find both literal and figurative seeds.

April in Verse
Collins’ visual imagery is also powerful, allowing the reader to see the brick path, the peonies, and the sunlight. Creating vivid pictures in the mind is something that poetry can do in ways that prose often cannot. The second half of the poem seems to have energy and makes the reader want to leave their own “snow-covered cottage” and burst outside to enjoy the blue skies and sunshine and bright spring day. Readers who live in places with long winters will recognize these fe

Spring Into a New Chapter at Wickson
The combination of these elements engenders a sense of new beginnings. Not only are the plants and animals waking up to start anew, but people are, too. How nice it is to walk out of the house and see your neighbors again! Writers have always viewed spring as inspiration and rebirth as a theme; the world begins anew, just as people can create new lives for themselves.
If you would like to embrace the theme of spring and rebirth this March, here are just a few selections yo

Women Who Inspire – Find Their Stories at Wickson
Ah, March, the unpredictable month in Michigan where you learn to carry a both a knit hat and an umbrella while also dressing for the possibility of snow, rain, wind, sun and clouds all on the same day. Daylight savings begins, spring breaks happen, and hints of spring air arrive. And, since 1987, March is also Women’s History Month, a time to honor and celebrate women’s contributions to history, culture, and society.

Turning the Page to Quiet the Noise
Study after study continues to show the negative effects of spending too much time on our phones. Social media is not very “social” anymore, people report feeling lonelier than ever before, and you can develop “tech neck” and eye strain. Other studies have shown that even for adults, excessive screen time can cause thinning of the cerebral cortex, harm to learning, memory, and sleep, and even a decrease in the brain’s gray matter.

Live! Michigan Author Right Here at Wickson
Tin Camp Road was also Michigan’s “Great Places, Great Reads” book for 2023 and was featured in People Magazine as one of its Best New Books. In a 2021 interview with Philip Caputo about writing this book, Airgood said that she “…felt compelled to say something about the working poor and parenthood. [She] wanted to communicate that the lives of the working poor are nuanced, lively, and immediate and that characters flying and working under the radar are full of wonder, grit,

February: Short on Days, Long on History
Beyond the cataloguing and classifying work she did, Porter was a lover of books and knowledge. According to many sources, she said “The only rewarding thing for me is to bring to light information that no one knows.” This reflects the continuing importance and value of libraries today. They are places to enlighten us all.

Don't Judge a Book by Its Cover
A lot of thought and effort goes into creating a book cover design. Even when one is decided upon and published, there are often different covers if the author changes publishers or a movie version of the book comes out, so a new cover is created. And I admit, a cover can definitely influence whether or not I pick a book up to see what it is about.

Shelf to Screen: Book Adaptations Coming in 2026
The titles here only represent a portion of book to screen adaptations scheduled for release in 2026. I am not sure which ones I will take a chance on, though I admit that when I was reading Sunrise on the Reaping, I was actively thinking, “This would make a great movie!”
We’ll see if that comes to pass. One I am guessing I won’t watch is Remarkably Bright Creatures – I loved the book and the pictures in my head too much to risk it. If any of these upcoming movies and shows p
