Throwing a Summer Party? The Library Can Help!

‘Tis the season for summer soirées! Whether you’re lounging by the pool with your best girlfriends, celebrating your son’s high school graduation, or hosting a backyard rehearsal dinner before your daughter’s Wedding Day- there are a variety of unexpected ways Wickson Library can help you elevate your event!

YARD GAMES & MORE

Did you know that we have a “Library of Things?” Over the past couple of years, we’ve curated a collection of educational and entertaining items that patrons can check out with their library card! Add some competitive fun to your event with one of our jumbo yard games like Giant Chess, Giant Checkers, or Yard-zee.  Clear off the driveway and set up one of our mega-popular pickleball kits! Or play a movie or slideshow utilizing our projector and screen!

In addition to the yard games, we also have a collection of over 80 board games. There’s something for everyone- from dinner party trivia to family-friendly games for kids.

THE PERFECT MENU

No party is complete (or can even start!) without food. Lucky for you, we have a mouth-watering selection of cookbooks available for check-out on our second floor.

Here are a few that I think are particularly perfect for entertaining!

by Ina Garten No one does it quite like Ina (well…except for Martha…but we won’t get into THAT drama!) I think Ina’s classic recipes are perfect for a casual dinner party at home.

Jarcuterie by Suzanne Billings

Take your charcuterie to the next level with the help of this fun cookbook! Filled with ideas for individual-sized charcuterie cups and snack jars, this might be the cookbook for you, especially if you’re hosting a cocktail-style event with lots of mingling (OR an event with lots of little hands!)

You might know him as a prolific pop music producer, but those of us who follow him on Tik Tok are privy to the fact that he is also the ultimate foodie. This is the ultimate Gen Z cookbook for friends. Is your kid home from college? Have them stop in and snag this for a fun night in with their friends!

Sister Pie by Lia Ludwinski

Detroiters know Sister Pie as an infamous storefront on the corner of Kercheval and Parker, just a few blocks away from Belle Isle. But even an hour-and-a-half away, here in Frankenmuth, you can enjoy one of their scrumptious sweet (and savory!) pies thanks to their cookbook! Stop in and check this one out before your big 4th of July bash! It’s filled with crowd pleasing recipes that might just make you as much of a legend as those we’ll be celebrating at America’s 250th.

So, whether you need to add some extra pizazz to your upcoming grad party, or you’re looking for an impressive new recipe for your next dinner party, Frankenmuth Wickson Library might just have the solution to your needs!
