Looking Ahead: Fall 2026 Programming

On August 4th, the Frankenmuth community placed their trust and confidence in the Frankenmuth Wickson District Library staff and Board of Trustees when they voted to pass the proposed millage. Here’s a brief note from our director, Michelle Duclos:

“We are incredibly grateful for the trust and confidence that you have placed in us. This investment allows us to continue providing the high-quality library services, programs, and resources that you have come to expect, while also ensuring we can properly maintain and preserve our library building for future generations. On behalf of our Board of Trustees, staff, and volunteers, THANK YOU for supporting your community library. We look forward to continuing to serve Frankenmuth for many years to come!”

And it is because of this recent investment in our future, Wickson staff are thrilled to share our programming plans for Fall and Winter 2026!

Adult Programming

Jen has been hard at work preparing a plethora of events for adults ages 18 and up. First up, our Fresh Coast Bookshelf program will run from August 11-September 22! Wickson Library was one of ten Michigan libraries chosen to receive the Library of the Great Lakes first-ever Fresh Coast Bookshelf packets! We received a box filled with Great Lakes books for all ages, special Fresh Coast Bookshelf bookmarks, and all the trappings to host our own end-of-summer program. Stop by Wickson today to learn more about (and register for!) this super special send-off to summer!

Adult Coloring Club, Brews & Books, Cook the Book, Wickson Reads Book Club, Memory Café, Adult Sensory Story Time, and Fourth Friday Arts & Crafts are all back on the calendar for Fall and Winter 2026, as well as a few special events including:

August 24 at 6pm: Learn to Make Haymaker’s Punch with Darla Wiggins

September 12 at 10am: Make a Michigan Map Magnet (the whole family is welcome!)

September 14 at 6pm: The History of Detroit’s Pewabic Pottery

September 21 at 6pm: Fermenting Fruits and Vegetables

October 5 at 6pm: The Constitution and Remembering 1776 with Dr. Nathan Seeley

October 12 at 6pm: Detroit Tigers with Tom Gage and Alex Avila

November 9 at 5:30pm: The History of Faygo and Coneys with Joe Grimm

Children, Tween, and Teen Programming

Mrs. Emmons is looking forward to once again filling the library with your children’s laughter and singing for a new season of Story Time! Join her in the Community Room on September 15 from 10am-1pm for a Story Time Kick-Off Party! Enjoy crafts, dancing, sensory play, and place your vote for what your children would love to learn about this season.

Also back this year are our monthly Destination Story Time events! Stay tuned to our website and social media for destinations and dates.

Ms. Barb has been busy sourcing all sorts of engaging and educational ideas for our upcoming after-school series! School-age children can join us on Tuesdays for Unplug & Play, while tweens and teens are welcome to join us on Thursdays for Try This Thursdays. These weekly after-school events are a time for kids to relax, recoup, and engage in crafts and activities in a safe, welcoming space. No registration is ever required!

And for fans of Ms. Barb’s special after-hours events, good news! She’s working with the Teen Advisory Board to develop a handful of events sure to interest our local tweens & teens!

Wickson staff is looking forward to a bustling new season- filled with all the programs our patrons have come to know and love, plus perhaps a few new ones on the horizon! Thank you for your continued support.
