We are pleased to present “1000 Books Before Kindergarten”, a program to help parents and caregivers start a life-long love of reading and learning with their child. This is a free program that encourages a discipline of reading at home, a major factor in increasing reading readiness when entering formal schooling.
Children ages birth through the time they enter kindergarten sign up for the program at the Frankenmuth Wickson District Library and receive a “1000 Books Before Kindergarten” journal with instructions. Prizes are awarded after reading and recording 100, 250, 500, 750 and 1000 books. When they complete the program they will get their picture taken as part of our 1000 Book Club and receive a t-shirt saying that they “Read 1000 books Before Kindergarten”. This program is self-paced and may take a few months or a few years to complete, anytime before they enter Kindergarten.
This program is open to anyone who comes into the library to sign up, with no residency requirements. Please call or email us @ 652-8323 or wicksonlibrary@gmail.com to obtain your 1000 books before kindergarten booklet.
