It's been a long three months for readers in quarantine. Unlimited time to read sounds appealing, but not so much when you can't get the books you want. We are excited to announce that libraries can open on Monday June 8th. In anticipation of this day we have developed a Four Stage Opening Plan.
What you might not have known is that during the Stay at Home order, library staff was unable to work in the building, process returns, or order books and material. This created preliminary work for staff to complete before we can start circulation books again.
During Stage I:
we will we will not
answer the phones check out books and material
accept returns open the building to the public
prepare the building
train staff in COVID-19 protocol
prepare for summer reading
How long will Stage I last? We hope to start getting books into your hands starting June 15th, but stay tuned as we comply with the latest Executive Orders. As we move from one stage to another, you may notice that each component has it's own timeline. For instance, in order for Mel to start, other libraries across the state must be ready. So please be patient as we reengage with all the systems that help get you the books and resources you need.
During the week of June 8th, we will take phone calls from 9 am to 3 pm. We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at the library again.
