At the Frankenmuth Wickson District Library, we believe that everyone deserves access to information, resources, and a welcoming community space. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our participation in the Libraries Transforming Communities: Accessible Small and Rural Libraries initiative. Through this initiative, we’ve received a grant to develop a special accessibility collection tailored to individuals with varying disabilities.
Why This Matters
Accessibility is crucial in ensuring that all community members can enjoy the full benefits of our library. Whether physical, sensory, cognitive or any other type of disability, we want to provide resources and services that meet diverse needs. This grant allows us to take a significant step towards that goal by creating a collection to support those with disabilities.
Community Conversation Event
We believe the best way to create a truly impactful accessibility collection is to involve the community members who will benefit from it. That’s why we’re hosting our first community conversation on July 22 at 1:00 PM. This event allows you to share your ideas, suggestions and needs directly with us. Your input will guide us in curating a relevant and useful collection.
What to Expect
During the conversation, we will:
Discuss the materials and resources you want in the accessibility collection.
Explore other ways the library can enhance accessibility and inclusion.
Listen to your experiences and insights on how the library can better serve individuals with disabilities.
Why You Should Attend
Your voice matters. Participating in this conversation can help shape the future of our library’s accessibility services. We can create a more inclusive environment that benefits everyone in our community.
