Labor Day Weekend, the unofficial start to Fall, is behind us. The very first leaves are beginning to change, another school year is in session, and seasonal allergies have me decorating every room of the house with an array of tissue boxes.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. The library is so much more than books. It's a dynamic community hub that adapts to the needs and interests of its patrons. This Fall is no different, as we roll out a diverse range of programs designed to engage and enrich every member of our community.
For the youngest members of our community, the library is now offering four Story Time options per week, beginning Monday, September 18! Weekly story times will share the same theme, so parents and caregivers are encouraged to choose the one that works best for their family.
Two story times will be offered on Mondays: Babies (0-2) at 9:30am, and Multi-Age at 11:00am. Two more story times will be offered on Tuesdays: Multi-Age at 9:30am, and Preschoolers (3-5) at 11:00am. Join Mrs. Emmons for stories, songs, crafts, and rhymes. Story Time takes place in the community room. There’s no need to register; just drop in. In addition to regular story times, Destination Story Time will take place once a month on Thursdays.
Tweens and teens can drop by the library for a weekly “Unplug & Play” on Tuesdays from 3:15p-4:15pm. This is a great space to meet new people, hang out with friends, and “unplug” from school, get crafty, or play a game. Programming begins in October. Snacks are provided!
Parents and caregivers, stay tuned for upcoming information about our homework help initiatives. We're dedicated to supporting the educational journey of our young members.
Adults have a variety of ongoing programming to explore. I’ll highlight a few activities here, but be sure to follow us on Facebook for current and up-to-date activities and events. Books for Lunch takes place every second Tuesday of the month from 12:30-2pm, and “Fourth Friday Arts & Crafts” takes place on – you guessed it – the fourth Friday of every month. Sign up for the “Lighted Mop Ghost Craft” on Friday, September 22 at 11am.
Adult Sensory Story Time continues to happen on the 3rd Friday of every month from 10-11am. Mrs. Emmons leads this unique experience, combining stories, singing, sensory activities, and crafts.
In a bid to bring homeschooling families together, we're hosting a "Homeschool Meet & Greet" on September 26 at 1:00 pm. Together we’ll brainstorm, plan ideas for a once-a-month program, and discover what our library has to offer.
Lastly, September is Library Card Sign Up Month. At Wickson Library, we believe that your library card is the best free gift you will ever receive. If you don’t already have a library card, consider this your nudge to get one.
In this season of change, we invite you to join us in celebrating the joy of learning, reading, and connecting with your community at the Wickson Library!
