November is a time for reflection and gratitude, a season when we come together with friends and family to count our blessings. At the Frankenmuth Wickson District Library, we are taking a moment to express our heartfelt thanks to the many community partners who have helped shape the library into what it is today.
For over 50 years, we’ve been fortunate to collaborate with local organizations like the Frankenmuth Women’s Club, the Rotary Club of Frankenmuth, the Frankenmuth Jaycees, and countless others. These partnerships, built on a shared vision of learning and connection, have been essential in making the library a vital, welcoming hub for our community.
Over the years, the generous monetary donations we’ve received have been fundamental in supporting library programs and special collections. These funds have helped us purchase essential resources, including projectors, computers, furniture, bookcases, and, of course, books. Each contribution we receive plays a key role in contributing to the library’s offerings, making it an even more inviting space for our community to connect and learn.
Additionally, local businesses and the Friends of the Library have provided all our summer reading prizes, further enhancing the reading experience for our young readers. This year, many community partners went above and beyond, offering their spaces and resources so that we could host library programs outside our walls. Expanding beyond the library building has opened exciting opportunities for hands-on learning and unique experiences for families.
Our community partnerships have shaped the library into what it is today. Last year, the library offered 347 programs with nearly 7,000 attendees, all of which were made possible by the donations of funds, gifts, services, or resources. This past summer, for example, the library partnered with Oak Lane Equestrian for a unique Tales and Tails experience, a program where kids were given the opportunity to read to horses, fostering literacy in fun and unexpected places.
In the coming months, the library will continue to collaborate with community partners. Beginning this week, our youngest patrons will be journeying to Pet Angel Adoption and Rescue for a special story time with Pet Angel’s furry friends. In a few months, we will again be offering our popular Winter Matinee Movies Series in partnership with Frankenmuth Community Education and the City of Frankenmuth. We will also be partnering with the Frankenmuth Historical Association to create a Winter Lecture Series on local history for our patrons and the greater community.
As we look to the future, Wickson Library remains committed to nurturing the instrumental partnerships that have supported us throughout the years. We are deeply grateful for the generosity of our community partners, whose contributions—whether through financial support, donated resources, or the gift of their time—help us offer a diverse array of programs and services that benefit our entire community.
Library Director Michelle Duclos sums it up perfectly: "Our community partners, past and present, have been an invaluable force in helping us bring our mission to life. Together, we are building a legacy of learning and connection for all.”
This November, and every day after, we are reminded that it is through these partnerships that the library continues to exist as a thriving center of community and connection. We are deeply grateful for each and every patron and partner whose support helps make our library not just a magical place for books, but a vibrant, cherished cornerstone of our community.
